Hamilton Tops Practice Times in Malaysia
If practice times are any indication, McLaren might have the upper hand going into this weekend’s Malaysian Grand Prix. Lewis Hamilton recorded the fastest time today and teammate Jenson Button running fourth. A confident Button told The Guardian that expected hot temperatures should bring out the best in the McLarens – a stark contrast to last season’s rainy race.
“A dry race would be good,” the defending Formula 1 champion said. “It’s always important to be consistent at the start of the year. It’s good to get some good points and it’s always easier to do that when it’s dry.”
Of course, practice times aren’t always solid indications of how things will progress in qualifying or during the race. For example, the Ferrari team decided to practice with full fuel loads to simulate race conditions while many other teams practices with the qualifying set-ups that require less fuel.
