Cool electric RAV4 EV from Toyota

More and more big name automakers including Fiat, Honda, Toyota, and Ford are getting into the electric vehicle (EV) production. They all are trying to unseat the supremacy held by the luxury electric vehicle maker, Tesla Motors. New vehicles are introduced as commuters rather than luxury. Toyota RAV4 EV is one such vehicle that caught our eye lately.

The 115-kW motor, one-speed automatic transmission, front wheel drive that deliver 78 city, 74 highway and 76 combined miles with a range of 103 miles. Only Tesla Model S provides a longer range than this. Tesla Motors has designed and produced the battery and the powertrain for the vehicle and the RAV4 EV comfortably seats five. When the back seat folded flat, the RAV4 EV will provide 73 cubic feet of cargo space free of even the typical battery pack. The vehicle accelerates well and all around the vehicle is quite. One of the main problems is the weight which is around two tons including the 845-pound weight of the battery pack. RAV4 EV comes with a remote climate control feature and can cool or heat from a smartphone. However, many are not impressed with the interior décor of the vehicle.
