Buying Used Japanese Cars in the U.S.
If you have a penchant for used Japanese cars, you are in luck. There are a couple of different ways you can find the car you want to buy. Every new car dealership has a lot of used cars they took as trade-in on a new vehicle. These cars are not always the make of the dealership. In other words, you can buy a used Toyota at the Chevy dealership. Of course, the Toyota dealership will have used cars too.
Another way to buy a foreign vehicle is at a Japanese used car auction. Make sure you go early and look over the cars. Ask to have it turned on and listen to the engine. Many auctions do not give any type of warranty with the cars. Some buy the cars to auction them, and some just have tha auctions, owners bring in the cars the day of the auction and run them through with the auction house getting a commission on the sale. This is definitely a buyer beware situation.
The third way is to find a company offers Japanese used car import services. This is probably the best way to go if you are looking for a specific or special model car. They can find it for you from anywhere in the world and have it shopped to you in the U.S. You will have to pay for the shipping and a commission, but you may get a better price from them than someone that has that exact car already here.
