An electric RAV4 from Toyota
Today, almost all big car makers offer an electric vehicle or EVs. Some of the familiar names include Ford, GM, Toyota, Honda, Nissan and even luxury carmakers including Mercedes Benz offer EVs. The biggest hold up of the EV industry is lack of available charge stations. As a result, it has become a suitable vehicle for drivers with shorter commute.
In collaboration with Tesla Motors, Toyota has introduced the front wheel drive Toyota RAV4 EV that comes with a 115-kW electric motor that delivers approximately 103 miles on a charge. That beats anything out there in the market for range. With a 78 city and 76 combined MPGe, it may worth the price of $50,660. The SUV come with front and full side curtain air bags, traction control, electronic brake-force distribution and brake assist.
It can haul five people comfortably and when the back seat is folded, it provides 73 cubic feet of cargo space. This was made possible due to mounting of the battery pack underneath without sacrificing the valuable space. The ride is quite and accelerates when you need power. The battery pack alone adds 845 pounds to the total body weight which is around two tons.
