Toyota recalls continues
It appears that Toyota recalls continues without an end. The wave of recalls that started in 2009 continues to date. In 2009 and 2010, the Japanese car maker recalled more than 10 million cars for unintended accelerations.
On August 1, 2012, The Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A. Inc. recalled approximately 800,000 RAV 4 and Lexus HS 250h models of 2006 to 2011 for possible problems on nuts on the rear suspension.
On October 10, 2012, it recalled 2.5 million 2007, 2008 and 2009 model year vehicles including Yaris, RAV 4, Tundra, Camry, Scion, Sequoia, Highlander, Corolla and Matrix over a possible melt or even catches fire due to a problem with the driver’s side power-window master switch.
The latest recall took place on November 14, 2012. The Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A. Inc. intends to recall 2.77 million vehicles after finding defective steering and water-pump systems. This recall covers approximately 670,000 Prius, 2004 to 2009 models, in the U.S. to inspect and some cases replace the steering intermediate extension shaft. Approximately 350,000 of these hybrid Prius will get replacements of electric water pumps. Over all 14 models including the Corolla are being recalled. Both repairs are to take approximately two hours and owners will be notified through mail December 2012.
