It is time for top midsize models to come to the market. The top six midsize sedans include Camry from Toyota Motor, Accord from Honda Motor, Altima from Nissan Motor, Fusion from Ford Motor, Sonata from Hyundai and Chevrolet Malibu from General Motors. However, a version of Chevrolet Malibu, 2013 Eco version, has been released and in the market since February 2012.
The early released pricier Malibu Eco cost $3,000 more over the base model cost of $23,150. The Altima is expected to cost $22,280 almost $1,000 less than the Malibu.
The bestselling midsize in the U.S. is Toyota’s Camry and it has gone through a redesign in 2011. Newer versions of Altima, Fusion and Accord will be introduced this year with the fall 2012 release of 2013 models.
2013 Altima expects to deliver 31 miles per gallon (mpg). The 2013 Sonata and Fusion are expected to deliver 28 mpg. The Camry which was revamped for 2012 model year delivers 28 mpg. Compare this to 26 mpg of Malibu released earlier this year. Ford’s Fusion hybrid is expected to deliver 47 mpg.
Expect 2013 models to come in with advance technology. Honda’s Accord will come with a rear-facing camera that will display images when change lanes to the right.
