Supercar makers are going green
Super luxury car makers are known for exiting the car buyers with speed, power, and handling. Under pressure from environmentalist as well as gas conscious government regulations, gas guzzling super car makers are coming out with sleek new hybrid models answering the call.
Toyota who led the green vehicle technology in super luxury vehicles before anyone else is coming out with several hybrid models ranging from $29,120 priced CT to LS that cost $112,750. Daimler is introducing a new S-class hybrid Mercedes for $91,850.
There are many other highbred supercars in the ultra-luxury category. Volkswagen’s Bentley line is working on a plug-in hybrid of its SUV. It may cost you $201,000 to $252,000. Ferrari mostly preferred by the luxury car users are coming out with a F70 hybrid with two electric motors with a 12-cylinder gasoline engine that saves 40 percent on gasoline consumption. It will be marketed with a price tag of $850,000. Porsche is hoping to introduce a new 500-horsepower engine with two 218-horsepower electric motors that can hit 199 miles per hour. It will be known as 918 Spyder and will cost 768,000 euros. The new BMW i8 hybrid will hit the market in 2014.
