A new crossover from luxury carmaker BMW
Are you willing to pay closer to $50,000 for a piece of German technology? That is how much a BMW X1 xDrive35i will cost you. Even though the crossover was available in Europe for a while, it is new to the U.S. It is the latest to join the X3 and X5 family already on our streets. The 3.0-liter, in-line 6, six-speed automatic can drive at 120 to 130 miles per hour, if you are allowed to do so. Yet at recommended maximum speeds on our roads it can deliver 18 city, 27 highway and 21 combined miles per gallon.
The IIHS gives it a “Good” safety rating and make it a Top Safety Pick. Some of the standard safety features include front side air bags, full side curtain air bags, and stability control. Only drawback is it doesn’t come in manual transmission. However, the automatic transmission is called “silky smooth.” BMW is known to give crisp cornering, strong breaking and faultless steering and the X1 doesn’t disappoint you. It drives much like any other BMW car. The 28i comes with a base price of $32,000 while 35i start around $40,000. The four cylinder 28i version is much more economical than the 35i brother.
