Formidable compact luxury alternative from Cadillac
Late last year Cadillac introduced its entry level compact luxury sedan ATS and with that it is expecting to increase the size of its CTS models. The compact luxury car segment is the world’s best-selling market today. The ATS is a formidable contestant for Audi, Mercedes Benz, BMW and other similar luxury carmakers in the compact luxury sport sedan market. The 2014 ATS model prices range from $33,065 to $58,760.
When introduced in 2012, the ATS featured a front engine with rear wheel drive, four-wheel independent suspension, electric power steering, and disc brakes. With a choice of three engine models, ATS comes in manual transmission and all-wheel drive options too. The 3.6-liter, 321 horsepower, 6-speed automatic transmission delivers 19 city, 28 highway and 22 combined miles per gallon. If you like bit more mileage per gallon go for the 4-cylinder engine. Standard safety features include front side and knee airbags, full side curtain airbags and traction control. The NHTSA gives it a Five Star safety rating. Interior contain high quality material, lounge chairs and a touch screen infotainment system that provides navigation with 3-D imaging, Pandora Internet radio with surround sound. One big plus will be the lower cost of maintenance compared to imports.
