Affordable sports car with style from the Toyota’s Scion brand
Toyota is ordinarily not associated with sports cars. But it started making sports cars as early as 1967 when its 2000GT debuted. Another sports car by Toyota, MR2 Spyder vanished in 2005. Again Toyota is making a comeback with a more rugged but sportier looking car with its 2013 Scion FR-S made under the Scion brand.
It is a 2.0-liter boxer 4 with 200 horsepower, 6-speed automatic transmission and rear wheel drive which makes the car easier to handle. The base model is priced at $25,300 making it a cheaper sports car than its Subaru BRZ cousin. It delivers 25 city, 34 highway and 28 combined miles per gallon. Standard features include antilock disc brakes; front side and side curtain air bags; stability control; alloy wheels and brake assist. It comes with an IIHS “Good” crash-test rating.
Toyota is responsible for the exterior of the car while Toyota and Subaru shares the brain of the car. The exterior look of the car is more attractive. But the rear seat is uncomfortable making it more suitable for luggage or a child seat. But the stylish Scion FR-S is a thriller to drive at an affordable price.
