2009 Aerodynamics to improve overtaking
There have been reports lately that via detailed computer simulations of next year’s sweeping aerodynamic bodywork changes predictions are being that this will promote more overtaking. The Formula One cars of 2009 will look considerably different to the current incarnation; smaller wings with no winglets or bodywork appendages and an altered rear diffuser, which can take a lot of the blame for processional races like last Sunday’s European grand prix at Valencia.
I’ll be talking about the 2009 rules in much more detail in an upcoming article but for the moment we have teams like Ferrari and McLaren who are considering designing more than one car to be used with use varying with the type of circuit. One thing is for sure, we are going to see cars that look very different from each other. Keep an eye out for my upcoming 2009 feature.
